Only Nigerians will decide if Buhari will run for second term – Buhari Support Organization (BSO)

- The Buhari Support Organization has said that it is too early to debate on 2019 presidential aspirations

- The organization said only Nigerians will determine whether President Muhammadu Buhari will run for 2019 presidency or not

- The organization also urged the minister of women affairs Aisha Al-Hassan to face her work and stop campaigning for her godfather

The Buhari Support Organization has said that only Nigerians have the power to decide whether President Muhammadu Buhari will will run for 2019 presidential election or not.

The organization said Nigerians brought President Buhari into power in 2015 and have the sole right to determine whether he will contest in 2019.

The national chairman of BSO Umar Shuaibu said it is however too early for anyone to start debate on whetehr the president will run for next election or not.

Shuaibu said: “If you look at the past, even prior to 2015 general election, Mr. President said he was not going to contest after the 2011 election. But so many Nigerians, including me, agitated and urged him to remain in Nigerian politics."

He said people especially politicians would need to relax as there is still enough time for for 2019 election.

“So, his second term bid is not going to be his personal decision. It is going to be the decision of Nigerians. And there is still time for that, because we are still in 2017, not in 2018 or 2019," Shuaibu said.

Also speaking on the support given to a former vice president Atiku Abubakar by the minister of women affairs Aisha Al-Hassan, the BSO urged the minister to get back to work.

The organization said: "As a serving minister she is supposed to be working and not to start campaigning. Why has she decided to overheat the politics now? I have never seen somebody inside a government, campaigning for somebody outside.‎

“You see so many people came into this administration from different perspectives.

“Before the 2015 election, there was a phenomenon we called, ‘The Buhari Hurricane’, which swept all diicks and harry, including the scorpions, the snakes, and what have you, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), at that time.

“We know that there are one or two persons who are not supposed to be within the system,”‎ Shuaibu added.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that President Buhari's childhood friend Senator Abba Ali has advised the president on decisions to take ahead of the 2019 election.

Ali said it is important for President Buhari to contest election as he is the best man for the presidential job in Nigeria. He also debunked reports that President Buhari is not medically fit to vie for a second presidential tenure.
